Do you ever find yourself working on your Mac computer and thinking to yourself, “There has to be an easier way to do this?”
Maybe, you sometimes get so frustrated that you sometimes just want to throw your Mac out the window?
If you’ve felt this way before, don’t worry. We’ve all been there. Macs are incredibly clever machines. However, if you do not know their ins and outs, they can be incredibly frustrating.
If you’re looking to ease some of your frustration next time you use your Mac, check out this article. We’ve got the top 5 Mac tricks that will make your life so much easier.
1. Create Your Own Shortcuts
One of the great things about Macs is that there are so many shortcuts you can do that help save you time.
However, one of the not so great things is that some of these shortcuts you don’t even need, while many of the ones you do need are missing.
Luckily, Macs allow you to create your own shortcuts, and doing so is quite simple.
All you need to do is to head over to your System Preferences. Under System Preferences, you want to select “Keyboard.” Under Keyboard, select Application Shortcuts.
Then, click on the “+” key to add your own shortcut. After that, click on the drop-down menu to choose the application you would like to apply it to.
Lastly, you will choose a unique combination of keys (be sure to jot it down somewhere so you remember) that will invoke this command. Hit Add, then you’re done! You don’t even have to remove your Mac Keyboard cover for this trick
2. Stop Those Annoying Auto-Play Videos
Do you ever click on a website, and then find yourself immediately annoyed, as the site starts playing some sort of video without you even clicking anything?
You can put an end to these obnoxious videos.
All you have to do is go to Safari, then Preferences, then Websites. Click on the option called Auto-Play (Should be on the left), and then turn it off for “All Websites.”
3. Receive All of Your Text Messages in One Place
We all have a few people in our lives who are loyal droid users and refuse to ever switch over to Apple.
Luckily, you don’t have to have two devices on hand every time you want to communicate with those who use droids.
Many people don’t know this, but with your Mac, you can respond to both text messages and iMessages.
Just go to Settings, and then Messages on your iPhone. If you’re signed into the same account on both your Mac system and your iOS, then doing this will automatically allow you to receive both types of messages on your Mac.
4. Turn Your Mac into a WiFi HotSpot
Many people know about the personal hotspot option on iPhones, but it seems few know about it on Mac computers.
If your friend has a computer and would like to jump onto your internet real quick, this is all you have to do:
First turn on your Wifi. Then, go to System Preferences, click Sharing, then click Internet Sharing, then click Ethernet, then WiFi. This will now allow your friend to browse using your internet from their own device.
