Sticking With a Landline Phone? 5 Features to Look For

12/11/2018 By Power Inception

Are your office phones ready to be replaced? Or maybe you’re in the process of starting your own company but don’t want to use your personal cell phone for business calls.

Landline phones are still an important commodity for any business to have. But they have come a long way in recent years. There are tons of features that can make your business run smoothly by simply choosing the right phone.

Do you want to know what we’re talking about? Keep reading to learn what features to look for in your next landline phone.

1. Voicemail Transcribing

It’s still commonplace to get in contact with important clients and customers via phone calls. But listening to voicemails can take a huge chunk out of your day.

Voicemail transcribing is a handy feature that will put your voicemails into words and email them to you. You can save time by reading them, and you can get access to important voicemails even when you’re not in the office.

2. Call Forwarding

Are you anxiously waiting for an important call from your biggest client? You need to leave the office to run some errands, but you just can’t miss that call.

Luckily, you won’t have to if you get one of the best cordless phones with a call forwarding feature. You can program your landline phone to ring first then automatically transfer the call to your cell phone if you don’t pick up. Or you could program your landline and cell phone to ring at the same time, so you don’t keep that client waiting.

3. Headset Jack

Do you sit behind a desk all day, then come home and plop down on the couch for the remainder of the night? While this has become all too common, there are many dangers to living an inactive lifestyle, such as increased risk for heart disease, obesity, and stroke.

The more you can get up and moving, the better. And what better way to limit your time sitting than by walking around whenever you get a phone call.

Finding a phone with a headset jack will allow you to do just that. This may be particularly important if you or your employees spend all day on the phone.

4. Multi-Line Support

Chances are, two people have tried to call your business at the same time. But getting a busy signal may cause one of those potential customers to hang up and try calling a competitor instead!

Multi-line support is a very common feature in landline phones. It allows multiple people to call at once without any of them getting the busy signal. Of course, you’ll also need to set up a phone tree or hire a receptionist to answer these incoming calls in a timely manner.

5. VoIP Phones

As your business grows, so will the number of phones needed. The problem is that traditional landlines have a limited number of phone lines. If you want to add another one, you’ll have to get it installed.

VoIP phones are great for expanding businesses because they connect to the internet instead of physical phone wires. So, you can continue to add lines as needed without installing more wires.

They’re also more affordable and versatile than traditional wired phones. You’ll just want to take extra care in securing your network.

Choosing the Best Landline Phone

When it comes time to choose phones for your business, don’t just pick the first landline phone you see. Instead, make sure it comes equipped with these features to help your business run as effortlessly as possible.

Of course, you’ll need more than just a good phone for your business? Check out our product reviews today, so you always make an informed decision no matter what you need.
